Paper Dying Workshop

May 15, 2010
Saturday: 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Class Fee: $120 members / $160 non-members
*Includes 6 hours of free studio time good for 4 weeks!

This workshop will introduce participants to two traditional techniques for dyeing paper. Dyeing paper with tea gives paper an antique look. Tea staining will make spreading and shading organic natural texture on your paper. Itajime shibori is a Japanese method of folding and clamping paper to create patterns by resisting dye.As layers of dye interact, the edges of the patterns bleed out in a subtle haze or leave a crisp line, showing varied characteristics of dye. Experiment and apply dyeing techniques in your art work.
